What is

Down By Here?

Down By Here is Swansea’s living room. It’s the room you stumble into at a party which changes your life. From live music to poetry, stand-up comedy to performance art, and everything in between, we are committed to platforming a diverse and inclusive range of musicians, artists & performers, and to providing a welcoming, safe space to anyone wants to see what we are about.

We may only have become DBH in 2026 but we already have years of experience under our belt curating some of the finest entertainment the city - and Wales - has to offer.

Owner Scott worked for the arts organisation Elysium (the previous occupiers of the building) for four years, building a varied music and events programme, and when Elysium acquired a new flagship building and moved operations - and their art gallery - across town, the opportunity arose to take over the existing site. With such an amazing community around the space, and so much good happening, the opportunity was too good to pass up.

The building we occupy has led a storied life. From murky beginnings as the Red Cow Inn, to Swansea’s famed Champers Wine Bar and latterly Elysium Gallery & Bar, we are proud to call 210 High Street home, and look forward to welcoming you as we embark on a new adventure.

We are a proudly LGBTQIA+ inclusive venue and operate a zero-tolerance policy towards discrimination of any kind. If you ever see or hear someone behaving inappropriately in our venue please alert a member of staff.

Our venue is almost entirely accessible, with an accessible toilet and ramped access in the main entrance. The only areas which have access via steps are the beer garden and upstairs toilets.
